My husband, Kevin, and I moved from England to Canmore, a beautiful town in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, Canada. It was a dream come true!

Some fun facts about me:

I like to hike, ski, bike, run, camp, tend to my garden and sit and stare at the glorious surroundings I’m fortunate to call home. (Even when it’s -35 degrees some days!) 

I also love to read, cook and organize everything!

 

Where did it all start?

I was on maternity leave when I had just purchased a new house. My husband came home and told me he had quit his job!

We were in a recession so what better time to start something of our own! We decided, with both our backgrounds, we could start a business in construction.

Twenty years on we had built a successful interior fitting out company.

We learned early on just how important it was to ‘know your numbers’

 

I trained with my accountants to learn Sage Line 50 Accounting. We used this software for 18+ years

Accounting, Bookkeeping and Payroll were my responsibilities as the partner of the business.

We never had a loan, line of credit or owed anybody anything. (Apart from the 30-day credit from our suppliers!)

If we couldn’t afford to buy that new van or piece of equipment to expand our business … we didn’t.

That was a key factor to our success as well as knowing our numbers!

 

Since moving to Canmore in 2008, I learned how to use Quickbooks Online and became a certified Quickbooks Online Advanced Pro Advisor.

I use the software every single day and love it. (It has since become one of the most popular bookkeeping Softwares.)
